My experience of Sligo Cancer Support Centre…….or “Wine Street” as it is called in my mind.

From my first hesitant buzz on the bell of No. 44 Wine Street, I was welcomed into a world where warmth, comfort, sanctuary and healing therapies are offered to each person who enters this beautifully restored town house.  Margo, the heart of the house, keeps the welcome going and the kettle boiling for all who call just for a cuppa or who are there for a class or an appointment.  The team of lovely volunteers are equally welcoming and so hospitable, and every room feels like a haven.

During the recent Covid 19 crisis, the Centre completely adapted its ways of working and reaching out to the community through email and telephone contacts and  Zoom meditation sessions.  If you would love a friendly chat, a counselling appointment, a place on one of the inspiring courses or an appointment with one of the brilliant therapists – it’s all there for those who need it.  I have been blessed to avail of all of the above over the past three years, and  I am incredibly grateful.
