I was very grateful to benefit from your bus service to and from St. Luke’s Hospital for my five radiation treatments following breast cancer in 2022. I live in Dromod, Co. Leitrim. I had no way of getting to St Luke’s as the train would only take me to Connolly Station. I have no relative close by who could drive me. I was upset and anxious until I learned of the transport provided by Sligo Cancer Support Centre. This service runs through my village and was literally a life saver for me. I wasn’t very well and it was such a great convenience and help to get the bus to and from my village I have no idea what I would have done if the service wasn’t provided.

Generally getting to hospital appointments from this part of the country is difficult especially for older people who don’t drive. I recently had surgery in Sligo General Hospital scheduled for 7.00am (could not get this rescheduled for later), the first train from Dromod to Sligo is at 9.00am! I had to book a hotel room for two nights (one before and one after my surgery) which cost €300.

So the bus service provided by Sligo Cancer Support Centre is vital for cancer patients. I cannot speak highly enough of it nor stress how vital it is to cancer patients.
